The Global Drug Survey, in its fourth year, examines drug use around the world.

This year, 20 countries are involved, including New Zealand.

With the help of media partners, like Stuff, more than 100,000 people are expected to take part in the survey.

Information is provided anonymously and individual results will remain confidential.

The results of the survey, to be published in June next year, will help inform better debate about drug policy. Because of the sample size and the range of issues covered, they will be of interest to governments, various interest groups and the general public around the world.

The survey this year again covers alcohol and tobacco but take a special look at laughing gas, performance enhancing drugs and New Zealand's briefly regulated market in synthetic cannabis.

Is the US participating?

And can anyone take the survey, or is it just for people in participating countries?
Transparency is necessary to ensure decent staff members get elected. Members need to know when staff are misbehaving, so members can be informed voters.

yes the USA is part of this, almost 100,000 people responded to questions regarding what they like to smoke, snort or swallow -- much more data and statistics can be found at http://www.zeit.de/feature/global-drug-survey-international-price-quality-comparison.
