Deadly Synthetic Opioid 'Pink' Now a Schedule I Drug

Responding to an "imminent threat" to public health and safety, the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) has temporarily classified the synthetic opioid U-47700 ― known on the street as Pink ― as a Schedule I substance in accordance with the Controlled Substances Act, effective immediately, the agency said.

The DEA said it has received reports of at least 46 confirmed deaths associated with U-47700 occurring in 2015 and 2016, including 31 in New York, 10 in North Carolina, two in Texas, and one each in New Hampshire, Wisconsin, and Ohio.

According to the DEA, U-47700 is a novel synthetic opioid; its abuse parallels that of heroin, prescription opioids, and other novel opioids.

Law enforcement agencies have encountered the drug in powder form and counterfeit tablets that mimic pharmaceutical opioids.

Ingestion of U-47700 may happen unknowingly to the user, the DEA says. It may be encountered as a single substance as well as in combination with other drugs, such as heroin and fentanyl. Some bags containing the substance are marked with stamped logos, imitating the way heroin is packaged. The drug may also be pressed into pill form and marketed as one of a wide variety of prescription opioids, the DEA notes.

"Because substances like U-47700 are often manufactured in illicit labs overseas, the identity, purity, and quantity are unknown, creating a 'Russian roulette' scenario for any user," the DEA warns in a news release.

"Emergency scheduling of dangerous drugs such as U-47700 on a temporary basis is one of the most significant tools DEA can utilize to address the problems associated with deadly new street drugs," the agency says.

The temporary Schedule I designation for U-47700 will remain in effect for 24 months, with a possible 12-month extension if the DEA needs more data to determine whether it should be permanently classified as a Schedule I substance.

A document describing the DEA's action on U-47700 was published November 14 in the Federal Register and is available for download.

Very very bottom on the lists. It's on the emergency schedule list now.

If I remember right Boro used to go on about this one.  One of his fave lies was that his advisor during his phd was the one who invented u47700.  Funny stuff considering his school was a lie.

I thought this had a gentle therapeutic index and didnt eeally get you high per se.  Am I under the wrong impressiom?

I don't think I've ever seen a study on this that I consider credible and would trust Z. All I've ever had to go on was anecdotal reports and from my impressions it had a fairly narrow  therapeutic index but would get you "high". Somewhat like a Fentanyl high. It also had reports of severe side affects but they were so sporadic I don't know what to make of those.

I have seen reported, persistent deeply worrying physiological responses when the total nears 500 grams.

A dangerous drug in high doses and then not recommended safe for human consumption, is the message. Lethal.

Relatively safe in occasional use.

It's a failed commercial exercise by Upjon pharma that found new life as an RC. Something given up on before.

I'd certainly would've tried it once. I'm sure it holds euphoria but it's not sustainable and obviously toxic.

What kind of side effects?

I've heard antecedently reports of psychosis, of it being caustic (possibly related to the method of manufacture).

It always had my interest but I never bought it. If I ever Acetoxy-Ketobemidone thought I'd be on that shit fast hahaha.

I tried it once in a PG suspension, wasnt all that impressed really.   The side effect i experienced was extreme nausea. Never really threw it up just crazy cramping. Also while it did get me well, there was absolutely no euphoria and a super short duration.

It feels good in a nice shot, but its really caustic and if you miss a vein itll cause necrosis, i bought a gram, did like 5 shots, snorted some, after 3 days i was having nosebleeds, gave the rest to a friend.  This was shown in the toxicology report to of been the drug that Prince OD'd on, not fentanyl.

I believe that the nausea is an indication that you've exceeded your comfortable dose, replacing euphoria with significant discomfort.

That indicates that you experienced a mild overdose. That's how it looks to me.
I could be wrong.

I understand what youre saying chipper but i  do a gram of heroin in a day. I really didnt do that much either, just enough to keep WDs at bay for a while. I think it was just my ROA, eating, this nasty new chemical that did it. Like i said it was more of a cramping feeling just a lot of discomfort.

PG is a stimulant laxative. That's what the cramping was maybe
