Akuamma Seeds, Comprable to Kratom?
« on: April 10, 2017, 12:12:48 AM »
A local botanical/tea shop just started offering this, so I bought a little bit

From what I have read online, it sounds like a nice adjunct for Kratom,
and it could be useful for withdrawal symptoms as well

A dose is around 250mg-2g with nasty side effects similar to too much Kratom or Yohimbe

I'm gonna try 500mg this morning and update later with effects
Very excited to see if this is worth anything, gotta love raw plant material active in that range

I know less than nothing about this one, but please be careful. Wiki says that it is an antagonist potentially: Surprisingly the main alkaloid from the seeds, akuammine, was found to be an opioid antagonist when tested in vitro and canceled out the effects of the active agonist components.[5] This finding contradicts the belief by some pharmacological scientists that there are no naturally occurring opioid antagonists.[6]

It's not an antagonist I can tell you that for sure
it has some antagonistic activity but that actually helps
it keeps tolerance lower apparently

As its own thing, it definitely has that mild kratom like head buzz
Physically I can't say thete is much there
HOWEVER, the friend who gave it to me takes around 50 mg of morph a day
He says he can switch back and forth between the two bo issues
Not eveb a hint if physical or mental withdrawal symptoms

This might be better than kratom for people working themselves off opiates
As there isn't really any high to achieve even with lots of redosing/high doses
So there isn't any incentive to keep taking it

Interesting stuff
As a side note, combining it with 1g of phenibut turned it into something actually intoxicating
