Poppies poppies everywhere but not a hit to take
« on: September 17, 2016, 08:37:11 AM »
Ive always hypothetically imagined myself stumbling upon a field of poppies out in the middle of nowhere, so lets say for the sake of argument I did.

Now, if it was local, or i had a reasonable means of transport, id probably just bag up all i could and take it and process it with normal methods.

However, save for a knife to score, lets say i had nothing and wouldnt be able to take it anywhere. Would i get high if i just scored a bunch of them and started ingesting the raw latex? Or would that be dangerous? Excluding OD warning

Im purely curious this has no bearing in reality. But if one day this did happen to me, id be glad to know the straight dope

I don't think it would be particularly dangerous, but it takes time (like overnight) to bleed a scored pod so it would take a while to gather enough to be dnagerous anyway.

However, IIRC, the pople who work in the fields tending to the opium poppies where there is a consisitant harvest do get high (and habituated) from their work. Maybe not. That might just be a myth because I can't recall where I heard it.
