It makes you wonder though, how much the NSA and other agencies are listening to pic up Penn's communication with the actress and follow the communications to el Chapo. Is Penn being monitored? The actress? any mention of the word Chapo?

It sounds like he took due precautions but now I wonder if he isn't on a cartel hit list for possibly cooperating with the DEA.

El mayo is the fucking brains,

El Chapo's image of the "folklore hero" got too big and he couldn't NOT be in the spotlight.

Of course El Chapo's comms were monitored, the actress's comms probably have been monitored ever since ANY contact with Chapo, same with Penn.

Penn probably thought he was smart by using all the tor and drafts in emails, and all that shit, but if he kept his personal iphone in his pocket, then he fucked chapo from the jump. Note to all: If you want to ACTUALLY stay hidden you have to cut ties, you can't just comm thru certain channels when talking to some people, you actually have to throw that precious cell phone in the fucking river, and start over fresh, also, assume anyone you talk to will be monitored as well and you're burned as soon as you contact them from the "Clean" line. Throw another cell phone in the river....

I can't get over how stupid chapo was to do this. Pictures shaking hands with him?!?!

Look at el Mayo, there's a reason that dude's pictures they use are old as fuck, he's got good opsec, no doubt. Unfortunately, look at his sons, they ALL turned to narcs, El gordo, El Vincinte, Sera, they ALL turned informant.

El Vincinte (El Mayito he is a disgrace to his namesake, he is no El Mayito) worked with the Flores twin narcs out of Chicago, they were narcing on him whilee he was narcing on the bigger boys.

Fucking Gordo admitted in his defense he was working with DEA/HSI. Tried to claim since he was told they were DEA and he was working with them and he did this shit while being a narc for them, he claimed entrapment.

Sera, well, he's a whole different story, he got picked up crossing the border, like a dumbass, while there was a meth conspiracy charge for him active. Then he shows up on the Federal Inmate search at MCC in San Diego, he all of a sudden just switched to "released" status. Federal Witness Protection for sure.

IMO, the cartel leaders need to be more like the old school Sicilians, not these rats out of NY and some in Chicago, I'm talking old school, and whack the FUCK out of anyone that makes a deal with teh feds. That'll keep some fucking mouths closed. Shit, I dunno, but if I were a giant mob boss, I'd get more people inside the Feds like the old days.  Look at some of the families in NY, there's one, I can't remember the name, but they've had the hardest time being cracked, their guys shut their mouths and do their time if they get pinched. Fucking Feds, Fucking War On Drugs, I hate all of it....

Dizzle, you think that the el chapos and el mayos of the underworld would be out of the drug game if the war on drugs finally got put down and drugs became a legal taxable market?

honestly, I think they'd find another business to get into, like human smuggling, sex trafficking, arms trafficking, but yes, it would put a HUGE fucking dent in their liquidity. Not to mention make things safe for us and make the governemt SHITLOADS of $$, on top of that, it would eliminate all that $$ that is spent needlessly on the War on Drugs.

I got into that with someone recently, mind you this person isn't an opie, but he/she was into drugs for a long period of time, drinking, doing coke, x, shrooms, weed, etc. I was talking to them and saying that not DECRIMINALIZATION, but actual REGULATION, like what we see in Colorado for weed, but for all drugs, nationwide. It would have to a monitored thing, where there was a Dr. or whatever, and an addiction specialist, and counselor or whatever overseeing it, sorta like the methadone clinic, but for all drugs.

He/She was horrified, said somehintg like "I wouldn't want my kid growing up in a world where they could just legally get on drugs", I was like "1. Hate to tell you but that's THIS WORLD, not only that, in THIS WORLD, your kid may get fucking rat poison mixed with their drugs because it's not a controlled product and any jerkoff in the hood that wants to can put whatever he wants in the dope and then sell it. If the market were REGULATED, like the methadone clinic I go to, at least it would be a safe thing to do. Now, if heroin were legal, you wouldn't go out and do it tomorrow would you?"

"No, heroin is disgusting"

"That's right, you wouldn't, but you were wrong about it being disgusting, it's actually one of the least HARMFUL (in it's pure form) drugs out there physically, the majority of the effects we see that make it "disgusting" are due in whole or part to the fact that it's illegal and therefore it effects personal relationships, financial status, and legal situations very very negatively. If it were regulated, you wouldn't have any of those things, and you'd be left with purely the PHYSICAL effects of it, which are little in comparison to lots of the pharmaceuticals out there today"

He/She replied "but it's HEROIN! It's like the worst drug out there, to just allow people to get it legally would be really bad"

I said "I can't continue this with you, before you base your opinions on what has been told to you by the government and big media, you should educate yourself, and when reading articles on Facebook about things, you should check the sources, and read between the lines when they present data a certain way"

He/She said "Well that's just crazy, heroin is the devil and..."

I stopped he/she right there and said "really, I don't even want to talk any further about it."

People are dumb as fuck. Most of the people are Sheeple and just gobble up whatever their told. It sickens me, it really does.

What the fuck were we talking about again?

Right, Cartels... El Mayo is the man and El Chapo's head got too big for his position, he got caught up in being a folk hero and forgot that he was one of the most wanted men in the world.

They already are getting into other markets.  I saw a vice video recently on how the cartels are tapping the oil pipelines, or just straight up driving up a tanker truck, filling it, and driving away.  The government runs the oil companies there, so no actual people were harmed either lol.

If you look at how much cocaine trafficing was controlled by the cia for funding the contras off the books it will raise your eyebrows.  I still wonder if these guys get away with so much because there are still deals in place.  Another case of waving one hand in front of everyone's face so that they can't see what the other one is doing right in front of them.  I honestly believe that if they wanted to wipe out the drug trade they could.  I think it is just too profitable on both ends, and everyone has to make their dollar.

There is no reason that El Chapo wasn't extradited to the US immediately.  Especially considering that he already snuck out 'in a laundry cart' once.  The whole thing smells bad.

Props to Guts for reading Foxtrot Alpha.  I love Tyler's blog, and read it when it was aviationsecrets. Here's the video if anyone wants to see it without clicking through:

They are indeed looking into other markets, but if the american drug problem was magically solved overnight,
I wouldnt expect the cartels to start looking into human trafficking and that sort of shit. the difference in demand between drugs and humans is just too great. Im not saying they definitely arent involved in that sort of shit, just that
the difference in demand would make that a pretty futile endeavor

I think theyd just expand the drugs into totally different markets.

AND as far as that RS article I finallly got through, first half reads quick and is exciting, but then it kinda starts to ramble and almost every aspect of "the actress" just sounded like fiction to me, imo.

"shes a trouper, she takes the wheel and says females are less likely to get stopped"

yea? and the fact that shes a famous actress doesnt play into that at all?

and now theyre saying her shitty OPSEC played a role in his capture.

well what the fuck would you expect out of a Mexican beauty queen-actress?
Im not saying that alone makes it impossible for her to know her away around encryption,
but this chick doesnt  exactly strike me as the 'Hedy Lamarr' type of famous beautiful actresses.

why he would put so much trust into this woman, someone hed never even met,
I just dont understand. some of this doesnt add up to me.
they are saying its just greed and his ego, but this man is a professional "Do not pass go, go directly to jail" evader.

SO, if I got this right: she writes a tweet supporting him, hes apparently very interested in her because he apparently wants to make a biopic.
Enter Spicoli (SP) from Fast Times at Ridgemont High for some reason.
Sean Penn tracks him down through her utilizing BBM.
Plans upon plans upon plans are planned and some are changed last second, but they are determined to meet
so they make it happen. And even after all the pre-planning and screening, El Chapo doesnt even know Sean Penn
doesnt speak Spanish. Then instead of just conducting the interview at the farm-bungalow where they meet, they
instead agree to meet up again and do it in 8 days, despite the difficulty in just meeting up with the man?

And all the while he's trying to conduct this interview for Sean Penn, he's being relentlessly attacked from all angles
with dozens of raids occurring simultaneously all over Sinaloa, and yet he still finds the time to conduct a
sans-Sean Penn interview wearing bitchin 80s attire at a remote farm.

Truth can indeed be stranger than fiction, but some of this is just too much for me.

https://theintercept.com/2016/01/12/sean-penn-el-chapo-opsec/ this article did a wayyy better job than I did pointing out the suspiciously weak opsec employed by 'ole Spicoli et al.

It will be interesting to see what the leadership of the Sinaloa cartel will look like when this all shakes out. Mayo's people were beefing heavy with los damasos for baja. That seemed to be resolved after Chapo escaped. I imagine those groups have a substantial amount of unfinished business. I think rafa might become very powerful within the cartel if he isn't already. He's old school and has lots of contacts in the Mexican government.

Would also be interesting if the blo reunites with cds but there's been so much bloodshed, it's hard to imagine that happening.

If cds and the cnjg decided to work together, I think they could take over Mexico, but the northeast corner of the country would become a bloodbath. The leadership styles of mayo and mencho, not to mention egos, would need to be worked out though.

What if el azul came back from the dead as well. :)

The cartels are already deep into other hustles- oil as you mentioned, illegal mining, extortion for literally every industry in Mexico, kidnapping, human trafficking, prostitution, etc. So far none even come close to the $ brought in by narcotics. The cartels that rely on these secondary markets tend to be groups that are on their heels and trying to maintain their payrolls eg los zetas.

The strongest cartels are those with international networks to source materials like Colombian blow and Chinese precursors as well as distribute their goods in the Asian and European markets.

I guess they had dragged him out of one of his tunnel's when they caught him? i.e. the filthy T.

@ Dizzle-

Does your "friend" realize how many people died during alcohol prohibition, from poisoning from all the dirty booze?  Alcohol is the worst drug, it will destroy all of your organs, not to mention all the deaths from drunk driver's, all LEGAL-yet just because it's legal people don't just automatically become drinkers.

But at least you won't be poisoned from some bath tub gin sold at your local liquor store-because its regulated.

And talking about vicious crime families.........this dude is sure UP there with the deadliest.

Salvatore Riina is arguably the most feared of all the Sicilian Mafia’s bosses of bosses. Born and raised in Corleone, Sicily and nicknamed ‘The Beast’, he is believed to have personally killed around 40 people and ordered the assassination of hundreds more. In one of the most destructive periods the Sicilian underworld has ever known, during the 1980s and early '90s Riina waged war on rival mobsters and the state on behalf of his family, the Corleonesi. It was Riina who ordered the killing of anti-Mafia prosecutors Falcone and Borsellino in 1992. This eventually brought about his capture and many revelations (from a number of informants or ‘pentito’) regarding the Mafia’s hierarchy and power structure
