refresh my memory subutex
« on: October 06, 2015, 04:09:52 AM »
so if i IV subutex (not suboxone) while on methadone (lots) does that result in stripping receptors and hell on earth?

TLDR

METHADONE + subutex IV = acute withdrawal??? (nothin cute about that :D)

please note no naloxone involved

i realize this is basic but i stumbled across a bunch of subutex and would like to know

I am pretty sure the subs have a higher affinity than done so I would think it would send you into precipitated withdrawal. I don't think it is the naloxone that does this. I could be wrong if anyone else has some concrete knowledge please correct me. I just know that when I inducted on subs I only waited 32 hours after taking a 100 mg morphine and I went into precipitated w/d at the doctors office. I was thinking that sense I was taking 300-400 mgs of it at a time that 100 mg would wear off faster. Top 5 worst experiences of my life. I didn't feel right for a week, I am so glad I had a girlfriend then to take me home I can barely remember the drive I just remember shaking uncontrollably.

The doctor prescribed me clonidine and xanax and I was taking flexiril along with a bunch of dabs and weed and I still felt like I was dying. The doctor wasn't there when I was inducting he was having a nurse do it and she couldn't get a hold of him. He didn't let me know what to do and I couldn't get a hold of him for 3 days. I was trying to figure out if I should keep taking subs or if I would be able to get relief from getting some oxy or something. I spent 3 days like that then just started taking the subs again to get some kind of relief but I felt off for at least a week.

I am just warning you of how terrible precipitated withdrawals are if you have never been through it.  I would definitely wait until you get a definite answer. I still wouldn't take it even if someone offered me a $1000. There is no way I am ever going through that again.

Taking subs while on a full agonist opiate = precipitated withdrawal

Take subs, then a full agonist = giant waste

Taking any subs IV/IM may reverse an opiate overdose, i believe.

I think that will work. just don't expect a "thank you" from the OD victim because they will wake up in WD.

Don't take subs unless dope-sick, even sub-lingual. One day i got by scrraping bags of a brick of ECP and went to bed thinking it wasn't gong to hold me overnight. I put a Suboxone under my tongue and went to sleep. About an hour later I was in full-blown precipitaded w/d. I could keep Gatorade down but nothing else. By morning I was much bettr but I didn't dare take any more bupe for the day.

And yes, it will happen with methodone too.

As everyone else said, DO NOT take bupe (Suboxone, Subutex, Temgesic, Buprenex, Butrans) if you're physically dependent on full agonists.

You'd have to be in w/d before you could take bupe.  If you do it while still felling the affects of a full agonist, it will cause precipitated w/d.

The only exception I can think of is if you were taking sufentanil.  Sufentanil can displace bupe.  So if you are in precipitated w/d, you could take sufentanil and get back to normal.

Yeah you have to be feeling like full on hell to jump to subs with an opie that has a halflike that long. If you are wanting to get on subs for an amount of time the best thing would be to switch to a drug with a short half life while you wait for the done to get out of your system then wait to get sick from those.

OR you would die from an overdose
yea I'm thinking that is most likely
unless of course your drug of choice is sufentanil

Been there, done that! One time, after about a week on methadone, I waited at least 24 hours since my last dose of done I took an 8mg suboxone (it's the buprenorphine that does this, not naloxone, because naloxone doesn't get absorbed that much SL) and went into some mean withdrawals, man sweating through my jeans and dripping sweat from my chin on the metro train which was in a particularly over-air-conditioned car in summertime.

Sweated it out for about 12 hours, then bought some vodka and proceeded to get blitzed, which I think might have reset my CNS because I felt basically o.k. after 2 days, a week and I'd seriously get messed up.  Next time, note to self: Drink lots of vodka after a PWD event with buprenorphine. It helps the nerves a little bit...

The funny thing about the whole thing is that I was very dependent on opiates before the week on methadone, namely dependent on buprenorphine, so I in essence switched opiates to methadone so that when I took bupe after methadone, I went into serious w/d's after only a week of being on it.
