Yes, good point. They do give narcan and teach you how to use it and do emergency breathing on someone, if you need to know. I felt strange first time I went to the needle exchange, went back in the room, and the person was offering me all the supplies. I felt overly greedy, but they were pretty much just asking "how much of these do you want" and giving me large handful of everything, cottons, alcohol pads, bandaids, few little bleach bottles, frickn case of points even, plus a few bags of other random kinds of them. I said I didn't live nearby, so I can't go there too often, not too far away either about 45 min. But anyway, after that statement the girl was overly generous with the supplies to the point of making me feel bad, kept saying, oh but you don't live in town..." So it was awesome.

I wish I could see the look on family's face wearing that shirt, and after the amount of stuff they gave me last time I'm making a donation next time I go. SO I may get a chance to see that on my family and inlaws, lol.

I don't know what town you are in, but me and a few friends in my town have been in touch with the people at the Grand RApids exchange about how they set it up, cause we are working on starting something up in my area too. Hopefully, because it's an extremely uptight area that walmart will not sell you needles in. One mom an pop pharm. in our town does, and thats it.

The WalMart's out here where I am in AZ have stopped selling the bags of 10 and now only allow you to buy the boxes of 100. Not a problem for me but I could see some people down to their last rig and with only $3 thinking they can get some new works and get shut down.

But anyway, after that statement the girl was overly generous with the supplies to the point of making me feel bad, kept saying, oh but you don't live in town..." So it was awesome.

Speaking as someone who worked for needle exchange for 8 years and ran my own small secondary exchange; DONT feel greedy about taking a lot of supplies for you and your friends who can't make it there.  These places work on grants and donations and they keep track of what they give out: the more they give out, the more money they get to buy more supplies next week.  The more you get, the more THEY get and the more people can be helped--that is how these things work.

I've never heard of an established exchange running out of points, and they would tell you if there was a limited amount.

I used to go once a month and take maybe 8-10 boxes of 100 each plus a shopping bag full of supplies like water, cottons, ties, cookers, etc.  I would take one of those garbage sized sharps containers and bring it back full to the brim.  And I was one of many who did that kind of thing for their local small using communities of like 10-30 people.  So they have plenty and it's totally understood to be part of the way these things work best, so not everyone has to come individually.

so yesterday a mate asked us to pick up some syringes from a pharmacy ... at first they were going to deny me then another lady intervened and gave us a very discreetly packed box of water, swabs, cotton, spoon and 4 syringes.

i did it as an experiment.

HR is still alive but you have to work at it.

Son of a bitch!
Walmarts in my county no longer sell syringes w/o prescription. Now I have to spend $6 for a 10 pack at mom n pops. Walmart was $1.35 :(

Right now I have a 28g long, numbers rubbed off special scarring me up. I'm used to 31g shorts, ugh.

I left a modified version so it doesn't look like you're talking to yourself dirtyjerzy.  The funny thing is if he posted it once it probably would have been fine.

I use the reli on brand myself. I get mine from wally world too. Everyone is super nice, it just makes me feel uncomfortable to go in and buy my rigs. I order them online and get them delivered now. I don't pay a shit ton either, with my military spouse benefit. So if you are military or a spouse or retired, you get a discount.

My husband is diabetic, so we wouldn't have issues, even though he isn't insulin dependant yet.

Some diabetic medications are prescribed for other purposes than diabetes, and not all needle use is diabetic dependant. There are many injectable meds out there. Get your doctor to send up information to allow you those. You can also bypass by ordering on the Wal-Mart website, pay online and then pick them up or delivery. Amazon has better deals anyways. Just bypass those assholes

Sweet!!!

People like this keep my hope alive. At least someone cares!

I've been personally thinking about running a vacutainer line with double port. I'm debating it though. I'm a licensed piercer, and that is just a few wasted hours short of phlebotomy, so I know I wouldn't have issues starting it, just have to debate placement.

For those who are unaware of vacutainer, it's basically an IV line catheter and cannula, that uses vacuum to maintain saline suspensions and clean delivery, even without full bag saline. It's pretty handy for IV drug users, so long as it's maintained. Lowers infection and if your a patient, it's handy if you have to get blood specs done a lot.

If I get around to it, ill make a post on it, if it's allowed and anyone is interested. I can run ventricular, atrial, lymphatic and adrenal lines, as well as long term setups, if anyone wants to know. Basically, if there is a tube or a needle vessel use, I can show you how to get into it. Lol

Black maiden, I am TOTALLY interested in this. Any info you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I've been an iv drug user for around 25 years now and I'm running out of places to use. I'm not ready to quit yet so this causes me quite a bit of frustration. The saying, "blood, sweat and tears" literally applies in this situation. Anyway, I for one, am interested in anything you might have to say on this subject. Thanks in advance! Kat
