Checkpoint _4 — "DM2S/NX/LVI v1.0 (and ISE v10.2 etc.)" — 2026-10-16

Supersedes ISE_v10_Checkpoint_merged_3.md for the LVI and housekeeping sections; everything else in _3 (and the merged checkpoint it builds on) still stands unless stated here.

1. Standing rules (operator = Andrew, forum username "Chip")

• Every SMF package zip must be built with his legacy zipper, never a plain or streaming zip (PclZip rejects data-descriptor zips). Claude has no copy of that tool; it matches a working zip's properties (flag 0x0, plain deflate, no extras) and he re-zips. Release card carries a "legacy zipper used" line.
• Delivery rules: bump @version/@date, manual version-history entry, every executable prints its version once at start, dotted never-reused zip version, xmllint --noout on XML, list unrequested changes BEFORE making them, release card table.
• No manual edits to SMF files, ever. Package Manager only.
• Never rename his scripts or files. Never reuse an old name for an updated file; append a number.
• Claude owns LVIBBC.php; he will not review it. Claude maintains it. A loud error is better than guessing. "Do not hurry."
• Reply header, casual mode: Claude: [Month DD, YYYY, HH:MM:SS AM/PM], time from an executed command each reply. Do not mimic his tone. Fewer questions, no jargon coined by Claude, no bloat.
• Audio/video indexing runs only on Clone. Never on Live or Dev.

2. LVI (Lightweight VLC Interface) — DONE

• [lvi] SMF 2.0.x BBCode mod, v1.0.1 (2026-10-07), package id AEgerszegi_with_Claude_ai:LVI-bbcode. Built on LMV 4.5.1 plumbing; autodisplay, scrolling and Markdown deliberately excluded.
• Tag forms: [lvi]URL[/lvi] (http/https), [lvi=ID], [lvi=0]/00 (first media attachment on the post), [lvi=attach-NN] (Nth media attachment, 0-indexed).
• Panel: Open in VLC (.m3u), VLC remote play/add (requests/status.xml?command=in_play|in_enqueue), Copy URL, change VLC address (localStorage lvi_vlc_addr, default 127.0.0.1:8080).
• Hooks: integrate_bbc_codes, integrate_bbc_buttons, integrate_pre_include; registered by LVI_register.php, removed by LVI_unregister.php. Needs CollabCore 2.0+ (requireOrDie takes three args).
• Delivered out/LVI_v1.0.1.zip (md5 1cc5854f0ec02bd5d9074b38ed638ecf). Andrew's LVI_v2.0.zip has identical code files plus his extras.
• Confirmed working by Andrew on a real SMF 2.0.x test system: install, tag forms, toolbar, .m3u, VLC remote buttons.
• Not proven: playing an attachment from a restricted board (VLC sends no forum cookie).
• His v2.0 housekeeping: package-info references readme.md but his file is README.md.md; lvi.css.css is unused MD-mod CSS; LMV's lvi.gif/lvi.png are leftovers; a stale first merged checkpoint sits in the zip. His TODO: VLC-viewer CSS, maybe merge CSS into LVIBBC, a VLC-style editor icon (not VLC's cone logo), document SMF 2.1 data-between-tags requirement.

3. Parked (nothing requested)

• SMF 2.1.x support for LVI — declined "not now".
• RedBox dynamic error handler integration (lazy-load with plain fallback; RedBox is a separate mod, topic 7681).
• Signed links for restricted-board attachments.
• Original VLC-flavoured icon; readme filename fix.
• Folding the "Processing new media" checkpoint (Checkpoint_ProcessingNewMedia_20261012_1121.md) into a later merged checkpoint; it was acknowledged only.

4. Open item at the end of this chat

• cleanISE_Clone 1.0.0 (2026-10-12), run on Clone as sh cleanISE_Clone, failed: line 71: syntax error near unexpected token '<' at done < <(find "$DIR" -maxdepth 1 -type f -name '*.tmp' -mmin +"$TMP_MIN" -print0).
• Cause: on CentOS 6, sh is bash in POSIX mode, which disables process substitution. Running it with bash cleanISE_Clone (or ./cleanISE_Clone with a bash shebang) avoids it.
• Fix only if he wants sh to work: rewrite that loop without process substitution, as a new script version. Not requested yet. Claude has not seen the script in this chat.

5. Carried ISE facts (from earlier checkpoints, unchanged)

• Three boxes: Live (CentOS 6.10 64-bit, production, no torch), Clone (py38, glibc 2.12, runs all audio/video indexing), Dev (32-bit, rebuild to 64-bit planned).
• On Clone: never install tokenizers; pip install --no-deps transformers==4.31.0. Transformers 4.31.0 must stay; only tokenizers and fake safetensors dist-info get removed. (The earlier advice to uninstall transformers was wrong.)
• Attachment ids are per box. Take care with mirror/overwrite scripts. Deployment timing is his call.
• Test system for mods: fresh SMF with only Collaborative 5.0 (Collabware + CollabCore + bin scripts + data store).
